Here the activity is the point. To raise more, a participant has to hold a longer chain — and the only way to do that is to practise. What they are practising is working memory and focus, for a reason they actually care about.
Nobody buys anything. Nobody knocks on a door. A participant is asked to get better at something, and the getting better is what raises the money.
Someone who backs a participant personally. A parent, an aunt, a neighbour, a former coach, a family friend. The word means godparent, and that is the idea.
Not a company buying its name on a banner. Most participants find five or six.
Each round adds one more, and each round is worth more than the last. Round four banks four points, round nine banks nine. The score is the running total — an honest count of what the participant did.
Which is why one more round matters so much. Ten to twelve is not a fifth better — it is 55 points to 78, a forty percent jump in what that participant raises.
